Some time ago I sold my share in a 182 to another pilot in the DC area. We stayed in touch and he has become interested in my stories of visiting short grass strips in my Maule. I am not a skilled backcountry pilot by any stretch of the imagination, but my trips into modest grass strips along rivers in rural Virginia, West Virginia and the rest of the Mid Atlantic region have sparked his interest in what real bush flying could be like. He and his wife are headed to Alaska for a cruise this fall, and he's like to purchase a bush flying experience that includes a bit of instruction. He has his tailwheel endorsement, and he isn't planning to become proficient at bush flying. He just wants a taste of it. His wife will give him 2 free days while in Anchorage for his adventure in early September. He wants 1 day of bush flying on wheels and one day to taste seaplane flying. The only bush instructor listed for Alaska in the "Tailwheel and backcountry instructors list" is Manny Puerta from Seldovia, AK. Getting to and from Seldovia would eat up a lot of the time he has. Surely there are more options in and around Anchorage itself. Are there any additional names I could pass on to him?

Manny is sitting here just over the hill from me in northern Nevada. Haven't heard he's headed north this summer.

I'll second Don Lee at Alaska Floats and Skis... Don is a true Alaskan "character" and has a unique way of instructing that builds confidence. So many qualified folks up here and its really hard to go wrong!

The above link may be what you are looking for. Steve Williams instructs out of Lake Hood in Anchorage, and he has the tools to do what you're talking about. Steve is a good guy. I have worked with him.

definatly cant speek with any authority on this, but what about Loni Habersetzer. I only mention him as he has given me great advice via email over the past few years, and by the bit ive talked to him, hes a real nice bloke and his videos show great skill.
