Re: Alaska Flying job

Wish I had more hours. I've been trying to find something in Alaska for weeks but not much for a pilot with 378 TT besides ACE and Hageland. I'm sure Regal wants a minimum of 500 TT for 135 mins.

Re: Alaska Flying job

Wishing wont get you there. Go to AK, take a ramp job or ?? With an operator. Tell them you want to fly 135. Work your way into that job.....

Re: Alaska Flying job

I think it is loosening up. In fact, something's gotta give. One of the local 135's has canceled all flights for 2 days because of no pilots. They go from air taxi to air ambulance to regional airlines when they meet the ATP minimums. The SE guys are going to have to start paying pilots to stay and school the new guys. We are either going to have fewer flights or more accidents. Hate to see it going this way.

Re: Alaska Flying job

Think GB is correct about pilot shortages coming. Mike is also right, can't get a job unless u get up there.
When I moved to Alaska the last entry in my logbook was my Commercial check ride. Started giving float ratings in Big Reds C-150 to build time. CFI could open some doors for u. Big Red would not let fly the
C-185 or C-206 on floats. But he had me taxi the 185 across the lake for maintenance one day. I taxied by every Air Taxi on the lake waving at the owners. Next day Jack Lee hired me to fly his C-180 and Super Cubs. Hank Rust saw me flying Jack's planes and gave a job flying his Cessna's. It went up from there :-)
With the pilot shortages opportunities will come............Never saw a Lake Hood operator advertise for pilots before, that should tell u something. :-)

Wow! What a difference a few years makes.

The view out the front window is for the most part the same as it's always been. What an opportunity for adventure and a life not many get to lead.

Re: Alaska Flying job

Waiting for the perfect job can leave you standing in line for a long time. Hageland would be a great company to learn to fly Alaska with!!! Any pilot standing in the door looks better than some unknown on a pice of paper!!! Last year a 19 y/o gal few her Cessna 150 up from Maine to throw bags and look for a pilot job, by end of summer picked up her commercial ticket and a job in Kodiak. Some people want to do things and some just do them!!
