Alaska Ridge top landing in a Maule M7

Flying charters in our Maule from village to village in the winter pays the bills and is rewarding in its own way. But it is always exciting and special when we are able to start flying in the backcountry again. Most of Alaska is still covered in snow but I found this ridge free of the white carpet. It was a perfect spot to take a break after a long return flight from one of the little, interior villages that sits on the Kuskokwim river. It was a good reminder of why we love the Maule.

Are you going to be back in Valdez this spring? Or keeping busy up North?

That was RAD!
Nice job with the camera angle. Perfect amount of cockpit/pilot doing stuff and outside visibility.

We are going to try to make it to Valdez this year. My family had a great time last year and want to go again.

Great video and I love your Maule! I enjoy seeing your posts on FB. You are definitely putting that Maule to good use.
Did you have any headwind or is your plane really landing at about 40 MPH?
Thanks,
Joe

Nice flap technique. No distractions with that panel. Tracking with the InReach?

Hi Joe, we had about 5 mph variable wind in the video. But even flat calm with me and half tanks it is usually right around 38-40mph-but at a higher deck angle.

That was great.
Made me wonder if I would like a vernier throttle. I like the idea of small adjustments with a turn or two.

Cool video. Funny to watch someone twisting a vernier throttle. I've never used one and it looks so foreign to me, but you do it smoothly.

No my dad doesn’t do Internet forums or videos. But here is a video of him in his 4 place Supercub. It was a short rough strip with a bit of a crosswind.
