Alaska Trade Show

Wondering how many "BCP'S" are going to trade show...

from where (out of towners) ?

Going to SuperCub din-din at Sourdough's sat eve?

Which brings up another question, how many of these groups do you belong to ?

I have seen several of you posted here and there on different
sites ? Up till this past year never really had the time myself, but have enjoyed the flow of information and entertainment this past winter.....

The Good Lord does not deduct those days from our alloted quota, spent fishing, flying or with our Grandchildren.......

I'm coming up (along with my mechanic).

Got to talk to Wup about some donuts.

I'm leaving in the Morning, will be up for a week, Only chance to catch up with all the Yahoo's from my past life. It's easier than going all over the state and tracking them down. Let me know if wup really has any donuts?!?!?

Have as much Fun as is Safe, and Keep SMILIN! GT,

I don't think I'll get there as I have a really big building project going on.

But CloudDancer wrote me that he is going to be selling volume 1 & 2 of his Alaska Chronicles at the Supercub.org booth. Good reading, IMHO.

I'm gonna bore a few holes in the sky early Saturday morning in the pattern and then head for the trade show. Hope to be there by late mid morning and spend most of the rest of the day just wandering around and trying to stay out of too much trubble....lol

Got a chance to visit with Pat at Merrill yesterday and listen to the story of his plane. Also got to see a 206 with the Landes nose fork with an 8.50 x 6 on the front and 29's on the mains. Looks like I'll be making Wup happy.

Hey Don, I enjoyed talking to you and your mechanic yesterday. I was sure surprised when you popped up out of nowhere at the fence....lol. I looked for you at the trade show today but didn't see you. Hope you made it and had a good time. Curious as to your reaction about it all and some of the birds you saw there which a lot of us in Alaska take for granted. I know they would be attention grabbers in OK for sure. The silver AT-6 belongs to a friend of mine and my IA is the guy that keeps it in the air right now. The Duck belongs to the air museum. Hope not too many folks bought tickets on the cub.....I just know they will call me tomorrow eve.......rofl...

Went up in the pattern first thing this morning in the buzzard and bored a few holes and did a few 2 pts. and 3 pts to get current. Sure was quiet......had the pattern all to myself.......apparently everyone was at the trade show!!!!!! That doesn't happen that often. lol Had one nice experience. Came in to 25 on a 3 pt. On roll out, I was offered the option to spin around on a 180 and take right back off on 7. Then as I was rotating off 7, I was offered the option to left teardrop right back onto 25.....was pretty cool to have the option to own that small portion of the Class C airspace at the airport for a bit.

Yep, we were there when it opened and spent several hours looking around and gathering the "goodies". Then we went off to Gwennies for some lunch before returning for the major purchases.

Not only did I get a Garmin 495 to replace my 196, but I got an autographed copy of the second volume of the "Cloud Dancer Chronicals" for the silver tube ride tonight.

I also talked with Wup about some donuts. Richard will put the double puck brakes on 614 after it gets back from painting, and then I'll fly to his shop next June (2009) before heading up to JC for next year's BCP fly-in viewing of Zane's chair.

We're on the 1815 Alaska Airlines smoker, so we won't be at the drawing.

I did and if it's the bird I'm thinking about, I have only one comment......."Whoa!!!!"

Really, it was a nice bird. What is the flap range if you know. They looked like barn doors hanging at about 50 degrees.....and the massive ailerons.....whoa.... It looks like a mega opportunity to get in a lot of trouble up here.....lol

Did you get the 495 from Pacific Coast or Northern Lights (NL was set up right by the Garmin display)?

Are you having Richard put on the Cleveland double puck and wheels for the 180 series and 206's? If so, you will love them. That's what I have on the buzzard. Speaking of brakes, if you hear of anyone wanting a set of Bodell brakes and George Adams wheels for a 172, let me know as I have a set of both that I can't use now with the double pucks and 8.50's. Both the brake calipers and the wheels are in fresh black Imron paint and ready to go after install of a new set of the brake pad discs (there is a supplier that is supporting the Bodell's now.

Anyway, hope you have a safe trip back to OK guys.

Got the 495 from Northern Lights - they've been good to me over the years, so I buy things from them every year when I'm up there.

Wup says he has the double pucks available and the STC to go along with them so we'll order them from him and get them on.

Northern Lights Avionics folks are good people. I've dealt with Gary Bennett Jr. for several years and before that with his dad, Gary Bennett Sr. Both are great and most importantly, they are 100% honest.....first folks I ever saw that would make a point to steer you away or talk you out of buying something from them if something a bit better was coming out in a few months. We need more folks like that in business. The gang in the radio shop is good also. I use them when I have probs.
