Not disagreeing with you HR. If they want to encourage people to land on the strip instead of the highway, they should get it listed on the sectional. I didn't even know they had a strip until it was pointed out to me.
Yeah not trying to disagree with anyone, but in my experience in the past couple months with landing on the road there twice and driving in and talking to the owners of Fields Station is that they don't give a crap about landing on the road. Neither of them ever mentioned anything about a Sheriff or Trooper. When I was there by truck earlier this year, to try and feel the place out for flying and scope a couple of other landing sites, the guy at the store had nothing bad to say about pilots landing on the road and told me where they did it, and how some guys supposedly take off OVER those power lines.
I feel they'll gladly welcome any and everyone as they are not exactly rollin' in the ca$h out there... Stop in spend some money, get a burger, a milkshake and some fuel or a t-shirt... and I guess maybe fill your growler now too, and try and keep these guys alive. The owners noted that they closed the post office as it was too expensive too run, but where happy to install a few taps as well now its the beer that brings in the $$$$ a true sign of the times... We loose Fields Station... well then what the hell do we have?[/quote]
No worries, I think Fields it is a great spot with excellent food etc. I just wanted to share my experience so people can be aware, thats all. The locals were very nice, and loaned me yard tools to go rake the airplane tracks

off of the farmer/ranchers land I had unknowingly landed in.........
Its a beautiful place to go camp and play, hundreds of places to land. I spend about an hour just above idle in the Pacer getting ridge lift off of some of the small hills around Alvord dry lake.
Take good tie downs, as the wind can pick up......so I have heard.
