Re: Amazing Cust Service... What's your story?

I recently had a puppy decide the cord on my Lightspeed zulu's would make a nice chew toy... I mailed them in to Lightspeed fully expecting to get hosed on the repair, and happy to pay for it at the same time. 10 days later I got a box in the mail with what appeared to be a brand new headset from Lightspeed. I called to confirm there wasn't a mix up and to see what I owed, and the customer service rep said "no mix up, we fixed the problem under warranty"

Fixing a problem caused by manufacturer defect is one thing, but fixing customer (well, customer's puppy) damaged goods at no charge? Amazing customer service indeed!

Re: Amazing Cust Service... What's your story?

Re-reading this thread, I should add some to my list of good vendors:

David Clark. I had an early model DC-30, which was sitting on my flight bag and knocked off onto the concrete. It was probably 15 years old at the time. One of the earpieces stopped working, so I sent it in with a note to please fix and return with a bill. Instead, it came back with everything replaced except the stainless steel part of the headband--all new ear pieces and pads, all new mic, new wiring, new head pad--and a bill which said "no charge".
Oregon Aero. My first experience with them was when I ordered a Hushkit for one headset. It was apparently delivered by UPS but was stolen off my porch. OA replaced it without asking me to contribute, said they'd take it up with UPS. My second experience was when I sent them my pilot seat for a complete comfort make-over. I sent it while my airplane was in for an annual. The refurbished seat was in my mechanic's hands before he had finished the annual.
Headsets Inc. I had ordered the ANR kit, knowing that I had the electronics/soldering skills to do it myself, but when I started, I wasn't so sure. My phone call with the tech was very pleasant, and he verbally checked my work as I described it to him in a half hour phone call.

Lots of good folks out there.

x2 on Headsets Inc. ^^^

I contacted Richard about installing their ANR in my Peltor helmet. He suggested I bring it to his booth at the Alaska trade show, and he could just ship it back to their facility with the rest of their display materials, thereby saving me the outgoing freight charges. Great customer service start to finish, and I'm happy with the product, and the install their shop performed.

Lightspeed has done me right over the years, refurbishing my headsets that the kids chewed up for next to nothing. Customer service works though, I bought their $1100 headset the other day instead of a bose because of it.

Re: Amazing Cust Service... What's your story?

The IFLY 700 GPS by Adventure Pilot has an internal antenna, and a simple panel mount with no external has worked fine in the past for me. But since replacing my aluminum panel with a carbon one, and installing a GRT MINI, I no longer get a signal, even after a unrelated upgrade to the newer 720. Near as IFLY and I can tell, the MINI is somehow effecting the incoming signal. So, I ordered a optional external antenna, and that should solve the problem. Only problem is... when I went to plug it in, no go. I got my reading glasses and got in some good light, still no go.

After contacting Adventure Pilot/IFLY I was assured that a gentle push was all that was required to make the connection. At one point I mentioned I had a fine selection of hammers in the shop, as I sure as hell couldn't get it in there by hand, despite repeated suggestions that was all that was required. The service rep continued to be non snotty, and didn't get sarcastic (though I imagined him telling others that he got the lamest call yet for tech help, some hick in Idaho couldn't even plug in the frigging ex. antenna) while I got just a tad insistent that we had a problem. Well, just a few hours ago, after a mutual exchange of pictures it turns out I was sent the wrong antenna, and the correct one is on its way. I'm a happy camper, problem solved, no extra charge of course, we should have exchanged pictures earlier as that cleared it right up #-o
