AMC...Air Mobility Command? Nope Another Missed Christmas

I fall under AMC with the location and mission that we do with the C5. We like to joke it stands for Another Missed Christmas. I'm currently in Europe hanging out in the snow. It was nasty here this morning. De-icing a plane the size of my hometown takes a long time especially when it's accumulating fast. Since were going to be gone over the holidays away from home we decided to decorate a little bit to try and stay cheery. The guys I fly with are my other family. It's the little things sometimes to keep you motivated. Cherish those moments with your kids and family this Holiday Season. There's a whole bunch of guys out here that are wishing they could be home.

Joey, I'm sorry to hear you're missing out again.

Please wish both of your families a Merry Christmas and a joyful New Year from us here at home and let them know that there are a lot of us useless civies that really do appreciate what you guys are doing and sacrificing for us!

Thank you Joey. You can be proud that you do a job that really matters. Are you going to do the full 20 years?

Avid,
Yeah, pretty standard holiday season in the Air Force(AMC anyways, although my favorite vairation is Alcoholics Moving Cargo). This will be the first christmas in a while that I have been home for, and that is only becasue we are deploying at the end of the month. I will say that every time a holiday comes around, it does remind me of what I was doing or where I was during the previous ones.
Christmas 2006-Al Dhafra, UAE
Christmas 2008-Europe en route to some shitty place
Christmas 2009-Europe en route to some shitty place
Christmas 2010-Kandahar, Afghanistan(flying the MC-12 as a teporary gig, I remember this one because we found two jabronies planting an IED at a road intersection near Lash Karga)
Christmas 2011- SUCCESS! First one I get to spend with the kiddo.

Sorry you're missing this one, fly safe out there.

3 years past halfway Rob and with the Economy, a young family, and a California Mortgage, I see no signs of getting out. It makes a difference when you love what you do. Heck I get paid to fly around the world!

The big question is which one of you guys will be looking to hire in about 7 years? I've got a heck of a resume and education

Re: AMC...Air Mobility Command? Nope Another Missed Christma

Man the deck has changed quite a bit since I left FRED. Dover and C-5s were my first assignment back in 94-95. I bet MADAR is long gone too. And fight to do 20, I got retired at 17 due to injury and I'm getting screwed over by the laws for CRSC and CRDP right now. No airplane in my future, and now I might have to give up flying altogether for awhile due to them not paying me...don't think I'll be able to afford to rent either.

Radar power? Have a good flight.

(before somebody asks that is where you push the throttles up until they hit the radar screen.)

Words cannot express the gratitude for all who serve, and have served, to provide us with the freedoms we truly enjoy!

Here is a little diddy that I hope will remind everyone to be "there" as our support staff comes home.

Merry Christmas
