A $3,000,000.00 EuroStar helicopter.... 3800 lbs, 750 horse, 25 GPH at a cruise of 125 KNOTS, up off the tarmac onto a trailer, I was PIC for 3 minutes, I think I'll log it.

Man! You Are Good! That's the most stable hover I've ever seen and piloting from that position no less.

And quite, too!!

Where are they trucking it to?

My hanger, no really, their headquarters in Texas. I wonder what kind of insurance they have on that pickup and trailer? Basic liability?

Not sure. But I'm starting to think that's something I might look into. I know there's already some company's out there transporting planes and helicopters, but I wonder if there's room for a few more??

I pulled this 40 foot park trailer from Florida to Boise for a buddy of mine last year. A bit much for my truck, but I made it in 4 long days still.

That's the first med flight heli I have seen loaded on a trailer that was not in a million pieces.

The moveable wing is missing...probably forgot it at the factory!

The trailer was too narrow to land on, according to the hauler. Only 6" either side, and apparently they'd had "issues" before with trailer landings. Bottom line the crane bill (minimal, hell I'd done it for nothing!) was WAY cheaper then any chance of a trailer mishap. A whole different line of thinking I suppose, with something that high dollar.

I figured that would be the case, but we used to do it often, and with alot less than 6" per side, sometimes 1/2".
This is done safely by strapping wide boards (6"x6"x12') across the trailer, then land on the boards, then rock the helicopter off the boards. If the tailer is really narrow, or you are flying something with struts where the gear really spreads(md 500) then you need vertical planks on the sides of the trailer to stop the skids from spreading too far.

The last three days on the road, I saw three helicopters on trailers. Interesting!
