Im a lover of off airport landings but;

there has been 3 planes stuck on lake ayr that have had to be heli lifted off because of the thin crust, all have made the news and its easy to find out about.

Like hell he landed because of an upset stomach, he wasn't up to flying 30 minutes back to William creek yet he was up to walking 18 hours to a road?

Why wasn't he carrying a PLB? its LAW over here and one of the few I strongly agree with. Or even a spot, a sat phone or a UHF radio! (there is emergency UHF channels set up covering the entire country, most of Australia runs on UHF so its not a silly an idea as it may seem)

Brisbane center are contactable on the radio from there if you need help.
