Android OS on Verizon

Anyone having problems reaching the website on this combination? I've had a few reports of errors being returned.

Report in if you're using an Android-powered phone and let us know if it's able to show BCP in the browser or not.

Thanks.

Re: Android OS on Verizon

I can't open it with the droid browser or the dolphin browser (Opera).

I get the error: You don't have permission to access /forum/search/php on this server. Additionally, a 500 internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use ErrorDocument to handle the request.

The only way I can access BCP is from the free version of Tapatalk, which is pretty limited unless you buy the full version.

I've sampled 3 'droid phones and all of them have the same forbidden message BUT, I can jump on supercubs.org with no problems.

Re: Android OS on Verizon

I'm pretty sure now that it's my code that detects the mobile platform. I'll fix it as soon as I can. Sorry about that...

We were excited to heli in Silverton — until we saw the bird. Looking like something your stoner uncle built in the garage out of four Meccano sets, a fish tank, and an AMC Pacer, this helicopter seats a pilot plus two only, making it a tricky vehicle, logistics-wise, when your group has 8 people in it. Re: Android OS on Verizon

Hey Z,

Did you fix this, or am I just the 'odd man out' ...again.. :? I have an HTC /Droid / verizon, and it works for me both in Tapatalk and in the standard browser!

Take care, Rob

Forbidden. Figured it was because I have a nose wheel.

Re: Android OS on Verizon

Just posted this from my Android emulator. There didn't seem to be any problems. Anyone have an Android phone on a carrier besides Verizon?

Re: Android OS on Verizon

Still getting,

"Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

I just figured it was something dumb I was doing but maybe it's the verizon network?

I've considered that, but I still think it's web server related, or the software running here. Rob was able to access it over Verizon on his 'droid in the browser, so that adds some intrigue.

Can you pull up this directory in the 'droid browser?

Code: Select all

Back on my laptop... and a thought occurred to me... Out at my strip, we use a different internet provider (beamspeed), and I get the 'forbidden' message there... :?

Someone, with their 'droid, go to this website:

http://www.whatismyip.com

Report back the address that it tells you.

Re: Android OS on Verizon

I think found the cause of the error.

Code: Select all
[Mon May 03 05:52:23 2010] [error] [client 72.121.99.150] Request exceeded the limit of 10 internal redirects due to probable configuration error.

When you go straight to http://www.backcountrypilot.org/ it redirects you to the forum View Recent Topics page by telling your browser to go to a different URL. I've seen browsers freak out over this before and go into an infinite loop of redirection.

Someone try it now. Any luck?

If not, try typing in the exact URL to the search page:
Code: Select all
http://www.backcountrypilot.org/forum/search.php?search_id=active_topics

Does that make it open correctly?
