Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

Angwin, CA (2O3) Fly-in Mountain Biking

A couple months ago I became aware of a mountain biking trail network adjacent to the Angwin airport. So today I decided to throw my bike in the back of the 170 and make the short 25 minute flight to check it out. There is a maze of trails ranging from wide dirt paths, double track, to single track, with some nice steep downhills as well. The FBO has some trail maps available if you go in and ask nicely. I recommend getting one because it's easy to get lost out there. I also noticed that the aerial map on Foreflight shows all of the trails as well. Make sure you load the image on your phone first since there isn't reliable cell service once out on the trails. Then you can reference it once you're out there to see where you're at. I only road about 9 miles before I decided to head back and get some lunch. I'll definitely be back to explore some more trails!

I'm not a mountain biker, but that place looks pretty awesome for them that are. Very nicely done map too. Who owns and/or operates the bike trail area-- is it a state park?

The trails are in the Los Posadas State Forest.

When I return from the Alaska Aviation show I'll toss my bike in and meet you there. Looks great!

Wish I were closer. That trail looks NICE! Sedona has a bunch of trails around the airport, I haven't been there, but they look to technical for me. (I don't really like to crash, but seem to do it a lot!)

I have noticed that the 29er is much more difficult to fit in the Bearhawk than my older bike or road bikes!!

My wife and I have been going out there (with the dog) for years. Great place to ride.
