Another black eye for GA

Well, I guess it is a good thing that the NY governor decided to bone some hookers, because if he hadn't, the news might be making more of the idiot that was intercepted in the Washington D.C. ADIZ today.

I couldn't get a good look at the last character of the tail number, but it looked like N7533M. Only problem is that the plane looked like a C-177 (no strut) and that registration belongs to a C-175 out of Oregon. Anyone else get a good look at it on the news?

Now, I'm usually pretty slow to cast the first stone, but man, I'm getting tired of these boneheads violating the most talked about, visible, hard to miss SUA in the U.S. As far as I'm concerned, pulling their licence and some public humiliation should be the minimum. Now I will admit, I haven't heard all the details, but if reports are correct, he was 6 miles from the capitol and intercepted/ escorted to an airport. Short of an emergency of some sort, I'm hard pressed to find a reason not to be hard on someone that does this. :x

Anyone know any more??

I don't think he actually busted the ADIZ which wouldn't have been that big a deal. Happens all the time, But he busted the D.C. FRZ easier to do than you would think if your trying to manuver between it and the class B all around it.

I seriously recommend any body who doesn't operate in and around the D.C. ADIZ all time do some serious research before they fly in here. I think what gets most people like this guy is they rely on their garmin co-pilot and neither the ADIZ or FRZ show up on all of their software updates.

We had a guy depart out of My home base, W00 a couple weeks ago who thought if he stayed below 500' he wouldn't need a discreet transponder code or to chat w/ ATC cuz they wouldn't see him. DUMBASS

Let's see if I remember how to land this thing.

So, I guess they don't allow float plane operations in and out of the reflection pool at the Washington Monument either. Bummer.:D

Tim,

Guys from Weed can fly anywhere they want at any altitude they want. It's a little known federal law. Trust me.

Well now that the Governor is gone, I will have to drop your name to stay out of trouble. Just say Gump.

Yup. That and two bucks will get you a cup of coffee at Denny's. Maybe cheaper now that we're able to use the senior discount.
