I will provide more details later, but...................

They missed clearing the top of the 11,500' mountian by less then 4 feet....That is bad luck for sure.

With all do respect, I'm thinking I'm going to stay away from that mountain range! Starting to sound like another "Bermuda Triangle" thing. :(

I flew over the southern part of that range on my way back from Washington back in October just a few days before that Mooney crashed out there. I think I'll go around those mountains next time.

Needing luck to survive is a lot like having to use an autopilot to stay upright while IMC. Sooner or later the math catches up to you ....

Not saying that was the case here at all. Sad deal. Sometimes circumstances just snowball way beyond all ability to control things.
