Another Southern UT Crash
Debrief, share, and hopefully learn from the mistakes of others.
Just guessing Density Altitude and a somewhat anemic King Air A100 with 10 people and bags on board. What a sad day.
A friend told me that DA was over 9500ft in Moab at that time. That same friend flew the Utah State University King Air A100 for 3 years in the mid '90's. He said that it was " okay in the winter, marginal in the summer".
Just speculating though. Sad indeed.
I flew to St. George this morning and it really started to heat up around 11:30 am. My Cherokee flew like it was carrying a piano on the way home.
Fly Safe.

Altitude is Time…. Airspeed is Life!
I too flew the USU -100 and it was pretty doggy during the hot months. When I first heard about it, my first thought was, "10 people?" Seemed like a lot for that aircraft on such a hot day. I hear that one of the young girls on board had just gotten engaged. Very sad.
I'd be interested in who your friend is. PM me if you don't mind. I was there from '94 - '99. I'm sure I know him. Might I know you too?

Well, at least no manufacturers were sued.
What a dirtbag.

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”
