Any Mogas Between Idaho Falls and Carson City?

Doing some planning and am wondering if there is any mogas long my route. Thought I'd stop in Battle Mountain for a short break but if there is someplace I can stop and top off the tanks with mogas I'd prefer that.

Used to be you could get mogas at Denio (and at one time you could taxi to the gas station nearby), but I don't know if that's still the case (been three years or so since I was there). And it's a bit off your route, maybe not worth the detour.

Denio's pumps are down for replacement. If you have cans, Hawthorne NV (KHTH) has a Shell station directly across the street from the ramp. Betty the airport gal will gladly shuttle you back and forth, or loan you a car to load up if you want. (And you'll pay for it by having Betty bend your ear non-stop while you're there!)

Is Jackpot still the cheapest avgas in the area?

Just wondering.

Check with Rome Service and Fields Station. It probably won't be Eth-Free gas, though.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I was hoping to find some place that was somewhat en route. I have room for a couple cans so I think I'll take those, use them if I can but plan on buying some 100LL.

There's also McDermitt and Elko. Short walk to a gas station. But again, won't be Eth-Free gas.

Re: Any Mogas Between Idaho Falls and Carson City?

Buhl has mogas but bring cash as they don't take credit cards for mogas. They also sell 100LL and have a self serve pump for that which does take credit cards. Wells is usually the cheapest 100LL around this area by a significant amount but there are no services there. Depending on when you come through Elko, you may be able to borrow my truck with a 100 gallon transfer tank to purchase ethanol free auto fuel at Atwalls Sinclair if you like.

West of Elko, Lovelock (Derby Field) is likely the cheapest fuel enroute.

I'm still planning on going, but I was going to leave Thursday night or Friday morning. So as it gets closer give me a call and I can either leave fuel in the truck for you, or have someone meet you.

Thinking I'll just stop in Lovelock and buy some 100ll. No need for me to inconvenience anybody. Wish there was more places out there that sold mogas.

I know you'd have to fly past the lakebed but Carson 100LL is going to be $4.99 and Lovelock is reporting $5.10. Not sure if your range would allow you to fuel there but it's cheaper.

Re: Any Mogas Between Idaho Falls and Carson City?

Being that I don't know what my fuel burn is exactly I'm playing it safe. I probly could make it to Carson but I'm actually a little nervous about the 3.5 hour leg to Lovelock. Plan to get enough fuel to get to the lakebed and for a little playing on Saturday then I'll top off in CXP for the flight home Sunday. I wish battle mountain or Elko had cheaper fuel because that would shorten the longest leg to a length I am comfortable with but I figure 50gal ought to get me to lovelock.

I never feel regret at paying a little more money for fuel when it allows me to enjoy the flight without worry.

Re: Any Mogas Between Idaho Falls and Carson City?

Hey Whee, I'll be listening up on 123.45 for you on our way to the flyin. Current plan is also to fuel in LOL on the way down, as well on the way back. (I did the math and figured the flight over to CXP to fuel on the way out would cost more than I saved :D ). But I still might fuel over there during the flyin. We are planning on being airborne by 8am if all goes well, so we might be a bit ahead of you, but we will keep an ear out. Fly safe!

Yep, my last trip I spent 40min sweating bullets till I got on the ground, not because I was low on fuel. I'm playing it safe every way possible this time.

GSP, I'm sure you will be way ahead of me as I won't be leaving Pocatello till about 9:15. I only have a single com so I'll be on 122.9 most of the time but I'll check 123.45 as I get closer.

I'm going to fuel at CXP at least once so I can thank them for supporting the fly-in.
