2 killed in plane crash northwest of Prescott by Associated Press (May 23rd, 2009 @ 2:12pm) Policy >> Talk About It PRESCOTT, Ariz. - The Yavapai County Sheriff's Office says a plane has crashed in a remote area northwest of Prescott, killing two Oregon men.

Sheriff's spokesman Dwight D'Evelyn said Saturday that the plane lost radar contact with the FAA shortly after midnight, when its pilot provided his last known coordinates to dispatchers.

Several hours later, sheriff's officials found the crash site and both men inside dead.

The crash site is near Haystack Peak between Prescott and Seligman.

Deputies learned the plane had flown out of the Hillsboro, Ore. The two men on board were 39 and 28. Their names are being withheld pending notification of family members.

The plane's flight plan and destination are unknown.

The FAA will investigate the crash.
