Re: Anyone headed to Huntington Ut fly in??

I was planning on being there Friday morning though Sunday Morning but the weather may not be cooperating for the Friday part. Thankfully Saturday still looks great. Huntington has gone to great lengths to make their airport a good stop-over spot for backcountry pilots with amenities that include bathrooms, showers, a nice grassy area for camping, picnic table, fire pit, firewood, courtesy car and reasonably priced self serve fuel. And all of it within about 30 miles of Mexican Mountain. Huntington and the Emery County commissioners do a lot to support backcountry aviation in their county so I try to support them when I can.

Check out the schedule below.

10:00 Skeet shooting activity begins, activity will available all day long Friday and Saturday.
(Bring your own shotgun.)**

Sunday September 29, 2013

Re: Anyone headed to Huntington Ut fly in??

We went last year & enjoyed it so much, we plan to go again this year. We plan to fly to 69V on Friday, weather permitting. This is a fun fly-in - great camping, backcountry airstrips close by, wonderful folks, lots of runways to land on (dirt and pavement), etc.

Hey Jan & Mike,
We met at Mexican Mt at last year's fly-in. Steve, Kris, Kashi (aka Little Dog) in our Kitfox. Trying to get there this year but have commitments already for Sat afternoon so it will be a quick Fri/Sat morning trip.

Hi Steve - Yes, I remember you folks and your cute little doggie. We hope to see you on Friday; however, we might be delayed due to a cold front passing through New Mexico tomorrow. Am checking that weather now!

One super cub and one Bearhawk planning a Saturday 8:00 departure from KBTF. If we are feeling ambitious, we may hit Mexican Mtn, Mineral Canyon, Hidden Splendor, Dirty Devil, etc. en route. Should be at 69V for lunch and afternoon shotgun shooting either way. With the wx we've hade in Salt Lake the last couple of days, the phrase "get out while you can!" comes to mind!!

Crap, 25 mph+, and a quartering tailwind (and a direct headwind naturally once aloft) at my place, not good for a gross weight/full fuel takeoff, better bitching about it here though then having a winter time repair job, have a good one you guys! I'll be unpacking the plane :x
