Anyone know where this was filmed?

Greetings BCP'ers,

This is one of my favorite You Tube flying video's, for it great depiction of friends out flying for the day, after the BCP video's of course =D>

Edit: I don't seem to be able to embed the video, my apologies. Here is the link instead:

I swear it looks like the mountains/valleys nearby the California Central Valley, southeast of the Bay Area, but I am yet to positively identify one landmark. Perhaps it is farther down south, not sure. Any guesses?

Not trying to invade private airstrips; mostly interested in identifying the general area.

Say this below the tag line:

Flying Low in a Super Cub Bush Plane near Northern Nevada. Shot with a Drift HD170 Stealth action camera.

If that helps. Thanks for sharing [-o<

Doh! Not sure how I missed that, thanks for the reply. I swear, last year when I first saw it this video, it wasn't there.

Edit: now that we have established near Northern Nevada, anyone recognize any of the landmarks/bodies of water?

Pretty sure "near Northern Nevada" is a red herring. Oak trees and fruit orchards = California. One of the ranges off the Central Valley for sure. Given the size of the Central Valley that doesn't narrow it down much, but it's definitely west of the Sierra's.

Just looking at the countryside I had the exact impression as well.

I was hoping someone would recognize one of the larger bodies of water in the video.

I recognize one of the Cubs and know where he's based, I'd say Bart is pretty close on his guess.

M3X, if your looking for playground areas, you might try the south end of the San Luis Reservoir. Depending on lake levels there is a nice cove there that is great to land....smooth enough for a trike even. Not exactly sure of the legality part, but thats usually the case in good ole CA.

Let me know if you're ever in the King City area, I know quite a few spots around here, I'd be happy to show you around

Hi Bart,

Very much appreciated! I am still building however, watching these videos and pics to keep my motivation up. You will certainly hear from me when I get flying. At my current rate perhaps a year or so.

Re: Anyone know where this was filmed?

I will try to give a better opinion when I can.

For now I will say it looks like a couple of sandbags thrown at us here.

Flying "style" is very reminiscent of some east of the Miss. Rvr. "boys"
Can't be definitive about that. But that "ghostly" transition to flatter terrain helps, and I KNOW I have seen that barn in other videos. Not sure where.

Whoever did the editing sure made it hard to tell and identify.
If I am correct they were correct to do so. [-X =D>

But - there is one that I believe I can name within 90% or so.
They do approach from a side that most of us did not use. Mid sixties to ....
The take off gave me the best clue at around 3.53 The T/Offf was also in reverse to what we did.
Two clues - 1 The old windsock post. 2 The hill in front of the camera during takeoff.
The take off was reverse to what "we" used. Used to land by circling that hill in front of the camera in a right hand direction and approach down a visible "slot" coming down the notch to the runway.
They may not even know the name of it these days but it had something to do with flying to Paradise ...
Old friend of mine flew us in with a C-310 one time.

No telling how long it has been since I was there. :^o
Oh Yea - I vote for south of Livermoore Ca. Lots of clue as far as I am concerned - but hey, who am I
To protect the innocent, that is as close as I will call it.

Nufffornow.
