Re: Approaches in bad weather

We had a family vacation in Costa Rica seven years ago. Kids and grandkids wanted to do a zip line. I opted to flying with him instead. Good stick. We talk about VFR on top. Well I was introduced to VFR in when I was down there. Had a great time. Wow I cannot believe that was 7 years ago.

Oh I met him on Cessna forum about a year previous to out vacation

Re: Approaches in bad weather

Good video motoadve. A caution on marginal VFR transition to IFR, however. Without training and currency, and altitude in most of the lower 48 states, staying VFR is generally safer. The problem for the rated and current instrument pilot is that staying VFR often requires going lower. No problem for the VFR pilot. Just stay as low as necessary to absolutely stay VMC, even if that means putting down under control to stay alive.

Over flat jungle or flat desert, refer to MTV'S article on "Pretend VFR." There basic instrument seems to help with staying upright in legal VFR.
