I was just talking to a OR Dept of Aviation person who said that it is a done deal that Aurora (KUAO) is getting a tower. The State received funding and it will be up and going by the end of 2012. This person is going East to work out details with the FAA. Anyone know anymore about this? The OR Dept of Aviation website doesn't mention anything.
I have been there a few times recently and it's been dead (mid-week and weekend). I wonder if this is some stimulus project B.S. being pushed through.

At times it can be very, very busy on weekends. Still, with the seemingly flat growth in aviation over the last few years, hardly seems necessary.

There's been talk about Caldwell (KEUL), Idaho getting a tower. I'm not sure the progress, though.

According to airnav.com, Aurora should have had a tower before Salem did:

State Capitols must get bumped to the top of the list, Olympia is pretty slow but they have a tower too.

Surprised Scappoose isn't on the short list for a control tower also. SPB stays pretty hectic with all the flight training that spills over from Hillsboro. (207 flights/day)
