Auto Engine Conversion Video

Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?

Auto Engine Conversion Video

Hi Guys. I have finished my first edition of how I shoehorned a big V-8 all aluminum Ford into my experimental Zenith 801 and actually made it work, Try not to laugh cause I have never made a video before or even narrated anything.. be gentle with me.

Wow- that was an education and-a-half. Amazing piece of work, and excellent video (tho I was hoping to see it fire up or even fly). What fuel are you using?

Thanks for sharing that.

Ok. I give in...My first attempt to run the camera. well I had my tenant do it. I wanted to hear what the beast looked like and sounded like since I don't trustanyone else to fly it. I am warning you guys the video is "less then good" but the audio is pretty darn good. And for you true motorheads it is music. Head to this link and turn up the volume..

Great video, Ben. That plane looks really sweet. I really like those Zeniths.

It's hard to narrate videos like this... I put together a "how to mount telemark ski bindings" video a while back, and I had a hell of a time talking and explaining while doing. Lots of "uhhhh ummmm." :)

Half a century spent proving “it is better to be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.”

Yup.. I agree. doing a video with sound looks sooo easy on tv, Boy was I wrong.. As for the fuel question from the other poster. If you remember the part on the video of my panel it shows an ignition switch. That is a double pole/ double throw unit. The distributor has a custom machined pick up plate. The #2 ign pickup is 5 degrees retarded from the #1. All I have to do to run auto fuel is set it to #2. thats 27 degrees total ignition advance. #1 is set to 32 degrees.. That makes the motor multifuel with just the flip of a switch and nothing more. Ya got to keep it simple...

Tailwinds.

STOL, I have to admit sniffing around your airplane at Jackson Hole Aviation last winter. I am a crewmember on that big grey colored G550 that is in there every week.

We were waiting for the boss and I was musing around, looking for something to draw my attention away and BULLSEYE!, we see your bird in the hangar.

I just wanted to give you props for the great work! WOW is that airplane sweet. PIMP! I began searching the internet to find out more about your plane and, wouldn't you know it, it fits my lifestyle perfectly. Thanks for the videos and keep them coming.

And if you leave it over there again, I can't guarantee it will be there in the morning. jk.

Nice work.

Altitude is Time…. Airspeed is Life!

Thanks for the compliments. We like the high performance climb/bank show you LA guys put on when IC in not on board.. There is some military fun running in someones veins... Oh yeah, if ol Bravo Hotel turns up missing I will sic Liz on ya.... :D Another question,, if for some reason center doesn't give you direct slc and you fly south toward BPI, my private strip,, Haas international, 2WY3, is 38 dme off jackson. Could ya look down and see if the snow is off the runway??? Thanks in advance. It is on the sectional but they are obviously not allowed on Gulfstreams so maybe you can smuggle one on board.
