Avemco contact nonresponsive

ANyone else having issues contacting Avemco lately? I emailed them for an addition/quote and also have tried calling several times only to be put "in a holding pattern". Eventually the messages asks for my contact info and I never get a cal/email back. Am I a notorious outlaw that they are avaioding? ;)

Re: Avemco contact nonresponsive

A week or so ago I got an email from Avemco that they were moving to a new address on May 20th. Yesterday I received an email that they were having a higher than normal number of contacts do to people changing coverage or requesting quotes. I think that several people had changed their coverage to not in motion and are now changing it back. They stated that they are catching up but it is taking time and to please use the on line quote or contact form and that they would get to everyone in turn. That is all I know.

Re: Avemco contact nonresponsive

I called them last Friday morning, got an announcement of a long hold, so left a message.

No word on Friday, and since this was the long weekend, didn't expect a response over the weekend. Tuesday morning early I received a call from them....I was in the shower. So, called them back a couple hours later, short hold, and got business done.

The first person I spoke with said that they were working from home, tied into the office phone system. May have been a result of the corona virus or maybe their office move.

I've been very impressed with Avemco over the years, no complaints.

And, FYI, my quote went down from last year, as opposed to going up. About $100 less than last year.

I’ve called them twice and emailed them for renewals. Haven’t heard a peep. Message says they’re working from home, but?

Re: Avemco contact nonresponsive

Thanks guys! It isn't just me then. I emailed for a quote over 2 weeks ago and got the automated response that they recieved it and would get back to me. Nothing...have called a few times and get the 'holding pattern' and then eventually asked to leave names/number/etc. No replies in a week.

City has a new contract for hangar tenats and they want updated insurance by 1 June. I'm going to probably have to change insurance to get it to the city office by June 1.

Anyone used Gallagher Insurance?

I called and cancelled mine mid-March. No issues. Pushing $4K for $75,000 hull on an EA-B in Alaska. Wheels. I quit, I wreck it and I own all the pieces.

Re: Avemco contact nonresponsive

Avemco just called on my cell phone and I have a quote. Funny I was just hanging up my landline from trying to get things moving and not waiting more than a couple of minutes to talk to someone when the cell phone rang to get info I wanted.

Thanks Barnstormer!!! Got a quote from both places and Ladd is quite a bit cheaper for what I need.

Glad you got through to Avemco. Maybe the trick is to pretend to be a potential customer instead of a current one. Over last 2 months 3 voicemails and 2 emails, but still nothing. I’ll try again.

Avemco raised my rates nearly 40% this year, said no thanks. Viviane Hibbler at Global found reasonable coverage.

Re: Avemco contact nonresponsive

I gave up on AVEMCO. Several phone calls/messages and emails with ZERO response other than an automated email saying they recieved my quote request (over 2 weeks ago). I got a quote from Jenny Bower at Gallagher Insurance. Under $600 for full coverage n my 172.

Re: Avemco contact nonresponsive

I've been insuring my 182 through AOPA services for several years. This year, they sent renewal offers at $1100.00, up from $875.00. I thought heck, I'll try Avemco. I did the online app, and received an email two days later...$2500.00. I called, wanted to ensure that I hadn't filled out the application wrong or something, held for 15 minutes, then was told working from home and to expect a call back from a personal number - never happened. The following week got an email stating, "hey, we sent you an offer and you haven't taken it yet". I responded to that email, and received a call one hour later. He offered to lower it to $2300.00 since I was an AOPA member. No errors, they are just high on 182s we decided.

Re: Avemco contact nonresponsive

At my age, I'm not interested in shopping around for insurance. As I noted above, I was surprised when AVEMCO quoted me a price $100 less than last year. And, yes, they understand that my 175 is tailwheel converted.

I did send in a request for renewal, which was returned with a quote a couple weeks later. It occurred to me that I'd failed to note (again) that this 175 is a tailwheel conversion. So, I called, left a message, and, of course, missed their return call. So, called again, and held. A real human came on, I noted that the plane was a tailwheel conversion, and after looking at the coverage, etc, that person informed me that they could give me coverage at $100 less than last year.

There are lots of insurance brokers around. But, as I noted, I'm getting to be of an age where shopping around may or may not be a great idea. Fortunately, AVEMCO came through for me with a good quote.

Re: Avemco contact nonresponsive

Totally agree Mike, I have always used Avemco and had planned on staying with them. This situation came up due to a new person taking over at the city (managers of the hangar rentals). Changes where needed to be made to my insurance required by the city. Also, I was due for renewal.

So, an update, I recieved a call from AVemco at 6 PM last night. Unfortnately I couldn't answer since I was on equiptment and didn't hear the phone. I tried calling back but again got a message but thistime stated they were closed. They also sent an email with a quote whic is nearly double the normal. It was over double of what I was quoted from Gallagher for the same coverage. Looks like I am changing insurance.

Re: Avemco contact nonresponsive

Glad to hear you got your insurance situation sorted out in time, and at a savings in cost, to boot, Keith.

I'm kind of shocked at AVEMCOs failure here. In my experience, they've always been very customer oriented, though not always the least expensive coverage. Sounds like they really screwed the pooch in this case, which is unfortunate.

I ended up with Ladd Gardner that Barnstormer suggested. It was quite a bit less and even upgraded from a Million and 100,000 to a Million CSL(Combined Single Limit) that was still quite a bit less with USAIG.

Re: Avemco contact nonresponsive

Finally got through To Avemco. Dialed the sales quote extension. They’ve been back in the office for a couple weeks now, but say they’re still backed up. Anyways, did renewals, all of which were substantially better ($1000+ better) than BWI. My rates didn’t increase from previous year for cub and 180. Been with them for 12 years now and no complaints. I’ve never had an instance where they wouldn’t beat a competitors quote.
