I too, have the idea in the back of my mind of flying for a charitable organization in the future. I would be interested in any feedback from the group with experience.
http://www.bahamashabitat.org/ looks worthy and did many flights into Haiti after the earthquake.

Wings for Christ out of Waco Tx has been around for many years. They have trained many missionary pilots. They have a Cessna 150, a 172, and a Mooney. They are located on a beautiful 3000' grass strip NE of Waco. Check out their website at "wings-for-christ.org" this is a great place to start if you are a beginning pilot being led to the mission field.
