Very good. When the split came after WWII, our Army gave up the aviation branch to USAF. Commissioned officers, RLOs (Real Live Officers,) had to be combat branch and alternate tours air and ground. After Germany I resigned and became a Warrant officer in the National Guard, which I liked much better. Because I was an Armor officer, I got Cobra transition after flight school and flew in Apache Troop 1/9th Air Cavalry in Vietnam. Later I flew A, B, C, H, and M model Hueys in the Guard. As Warrant and instructor I only flew. Later the regular Army got their avaition branch back. The USAF has always had a burr up their butt about Army avaition.
While our CIC is a pain in the butt for our allies, he is just a symptom of our return to isolationism. The allies are becoming stronger, however, thank God. I am old and don't expect to be around for the next big war. When my son was in Iraq and Afghanistan, I told him to watch the British because they had been at this a long time. You guys flew hunter killer teams in Vietnam with Bell 13s and Cessna O-2s. I met two of your infantrymen on a parts and day off Huey going back to Phu Loi. They were in field uniform with rifles. When I asked where they were going one said, "We're on our holidays just going up county to see how the Yanks are getting on."
