AVIATION RELATED CRANE JOB

I got a call from a local pilot, he needed me to lift a 9K 40' container off a flatbed and set it down by his shop. Business as usual so far, but then he said first we needed to hand unload the two all carbon unlimited aerobatic aircraft, from Germany, from the container! Both were XA42's: http://www.xtremeair.com/. Walking in Scott's hangar was interesting right away, he's one of those guys who does everything first class, and somehow keeps all his toys looking brand new, really annoying in other words: a custom one of a kind much modified Rans S-18 on Airstreaks. He said the viz was "good", and I believe him.

Towards the rear of the hangar was a Yak, and a complete crated Rans S-7S kit, both for sale, just saying.

Then the sealed container was opened, wow, full of airplanes. They did a super job, both fully completed aircraft were pristine, they really had them secured every which way, and as a bonus Scott got a lot of FREE strap binders, no extra charge! Both planes have IO-580's, and I'm guessing they weigh more then a Rotax, so those double upped ramps started to look pretty wimpy.

Two people in the trailer on the tail, two on the ramps and we didn't drop or scratch anything, but it was pretty damn tense a few times. The one piece wing and the hor stab/tailfeathers, also one piece, were simply carried out. That wing is good for 28 G's  The fit and finish of everything was awe inspiring, the leather seats like something out of a high end sports car, and then some. I got to try it out, Scott wasn't getting the now empty container craned off until I got some stick time.

Anyone wanting a YAK, or a complete S-7S kit, or either of the two composite wonders, PM me and I'll hook you up with Scott. One last thing, when he gets them assembled (and that won't take but a day or so) and the Feds sign them off, and Scott gets them test flown (he's already checked out in them, while in Germany) I GET A RIDE =D>

Dang that S-18 is gorgeous, best I've seen. Im sitting on the deck, 500' above Bear Lake dreaming about flying it on this crisp night, in fact.

:P :P :P

Marker did a video last Winter in his S-18 and the viz looks incredible. https://vimeo.com/116306796

A guy needs a little money and some time off in life!! :D :D :D

Re: AVIATION RELATED CRANE JOB

I got a wild hair about the S-18 a while back. Apparently these days they are special order only kits. I wonder how they compare in weight to the Drifter?

Re: AVIATION RELATED CRANE JOB

This one has a fabric cover job, not the dacron sails. Also it has the wing off an S-7S, lot of mods. No idea on the weight as compared to a Drifter, probably more, I mean, it has doors!

What a candy store!! I love the Sbach/Xtreme Air - jealous Tom. I also love that S18. Would be such a fun little plane.

Re: AVIATION RELATED CRANE JOB

Compared to my T-craft, I bet the visibility is awesome in a S-18. I've kind of been longing for one since cg started this thread.

I thought that I could imbed, I guess I'm not smart enough.
