I thought you fellows might get a kick out of this...I could not help myself when the Cirrus pilot thought he should get preferential treatment over us poor tailwheel guys.

lowflybye,

Saw it earlier today on an AVweb email, pretty good. Even more fun because I knew who you were and have seen the pix of the two aircraft you were flying with. Was the beer still cold?

A few years ago, I was flying into SnF in a borrowed airplane. The lady on the approach trailer had a smooth deep southern accent, and was handling traffic really well.

She addressed me: "Yella High Wing ovah the power plant, Rock your wings for me, Honey" I did.

She then cleared me to proceed toward the airport.

A couple minutes later, she came on with:

"Yella High Wing, I don't want ya'll to get excited now, but if you look down to your left, you're gonna see something white and going really fast. I don't know who he is, or where he's goin, and he ain't talking to me, but the good news is he missed ya'll. You go ahead and switch to tower now, and have fun"

I looked down and there was a Glasair, 300 or so feet below the prescribed altitude, and about 60 knots over the max speed, headed towards the airport.

It's a wonder they don't kill about ten a year there and at OSH.

Really amazing the entry procedures, though, and the controllers are great.

I have had s few cirrus drivers think that my old POS is not worth waiting for as well. One time I was taking the active, after being instructed to do so by the tower and the cirrus driver came on the intersection one up from the end. He left the area, the tower and ground had never heard him, nor had I for that matter. The n-number was a small one and the tower did not have it either, too bad.

Some think that having large $ means that they are important folks, I do not feel that way, my safety is very important to me.
