I apologize if this has been posted before, or if I'm posting it in the wrong place, but a friend of mine just sent me a link to this association. It's free to join and they have a comprehensive database of many British Columbia backcountry strips including runway condition info, youtube links, etc. It also sounds like they are planning work parties at a few strips per year.
Strength in numbers! Even if you don't get the opportunity to come up here (or down here) flying, joining to show support will help with funding and awareness.
