Back in the days -a real pilot/TW!
A general forum for anything related to flying the backcountry. Please check first if your new topic fits better into a more specific forum before posting.
I posted a picture I found, back when I was a real pilot and flew a plane with a TW. I was the president in Oregon, of the International 170 Club. I had a 1953 170B 58 Charley. I put 835 hours on it in about 11 years. Maybe Zane will embed the picture as I don't have the knack as yet. I have been laughed at for having a 182 with a training wheel on the front. So I just wanted to get in that great fraternity of TW pilots!!!

I believe that plane is now owned by a gentleman in Alaska.

We'll I'm not laughing at you. If I didn't need the TW hours for work, I probably would have bought a 182.

Picture was taken at Johnson Creek by Yellow pine ID. in the 1980s I don't recall the actual date without digging out an old log book. It was a combination Idaho, Oregon 170 Fly-in. I had some great flying experiences in old 58 Charley. I bought it before I had a pilot license, and my partner in the plane, a CFI taught me to fly in it. And yes, by the way last I heard it was purchased by a gentleman from Alaska. Bob

Thanks Zane, and thanks for posting the picture for me. I have moved from the Portland area to Vale. I have a new computer here I am trying to conquer and I am losing the battle.

Oh, and by the way did I tell you we had to scrape up $12,500. between us to purchase 58 Charley. I had a hell of a time getting my half paid for. Bob

Nice photo! Makes me nostalgic for my 1952 107B N118F that I bought it in 1973 for $5,500 when gas was 48 cents per gallon for 80/87.

I looked in trade a plane a while back and of the 6 or7 170s listed the lowest priced one was $30,000. Sometimes I wish I still had that old bird.. Bob

Bob I'm scratchin' my head about why you put this in Accident Analysis. Is it because you consider selling 58C an accident?
