Backcountry......Jet?

I was just reading an article about Pilatus's new baby the PC-24. Supposed to be rough field capable. The pic in flying magazine of it is pretty cool. How cool would it be to see a biz jet touch down at JC?

Re: Backcountry......Jet?

It's a wise move on Pilatus' part. The emerging aviation markets do not have the airport infrastructure that the US does. Planning on producing a plane that is useful in South America, Asia and even Canada is thinking ahead. The US market is dwindling for many reasons.

A look at the specs indicates that it would not be able to takeoff from JC at gross weight on a warm day.

An 81 knot stall speed disqualifies it as "backcountry capable".

A PC-12 bangs around the bigger backcountry strips with ease every year. Moose, Chamberlain, Cold Meadows, and I've heard some other places too. And the Twin Otter gets in and out of Cabin Creek, Taylor, etc., dropping off fire crews.

If I could have pulled off that powerball Saturday night, ya'll would have seen some serious sh** pullin into JC next month (loaded with more ice cream than you could possibly eat)!
Just have to slum it in the 170 for now.

I used to see these in Africa. AN 74 I think. Those eastern block pilots did some crazy things with them.
