Backyard BC Flying

It's very hard to get anything work orientated done with everyone's video's showing off their backyard lately!

I thought I'd dig out the gopro, go out and shoot some landings after work and give a video edit a go. Didn't get very far with the editing! You guys do a superb job on some of the clips that come up here, hats off and thank-you! I never realized the effort put in there.

In the winter I sometimes think I should buy a fast plane and go somewhere warm. In the summer I can't bear to go anywhere else for fear of missing out on another awesome flying day in British Columbia!

Nice footage! No complaints about the editing either. Just glad to see it. I liked hearing the engine too. Interesting to hear your throttle inputs.

Cheers! I always like the sound of the engine and everything else on landing's and take off as well. A few tunes in between probably wouldn't go a stray though.

Looking mighty fine! I was flying BC two days ago! An infinite wonderland for flying bush. Great video.

Not much of a story mate just another Aussie living abroad, although I'm a citizen here now so I guess after that long I'm no longer living abroad. Like flies, we're everywhere, infiltrating all country's that have water!

I've been following your trip, awesome! I'm sure everyone says the same where they live but I really think BC has it all for flying, beeches, lakes, river beds, arid country, lush country, mountains, glaciers, snow you name it. Next trip pop inland for a bit and we'll get the Scouts together!

Re: Backyard BC Flying

Great video!

So often I click on a "BC Flying" link and it is an abbreviation for backcountry. Always makes me smile when it is British Columbia. Turns out I recognize your helmet too, we met in Pemby just after I got my PPL.

I completely agree that we have it all here... from beaches to glaciers to deserts, all within a few hundred miles. The fishing/hunting/biking/climbing/hiking/boating aren't bad either.

I feel very blessed to live here.

Haha, I see you know the lingo! I was probably flying with thongs on that flight too, on my feet that is.

Yeah I remember Al. Always make me chuckle a little too mate. How's the summer treating you, burning lots of AV Gas in the new bird?

Thanks, yeah it's a nice stretch of river leaving that spot.

Re: Backyard BC Flying

Apologies for the inane questions, but...

What river drainage is that? Looks like a good paddle...

And, most inane of all, what tires are you wearing? Seemed like pretty good flotation over the cobbles.

Thanks mate! (note nice use of the lingo)

The Byron Bay Woolworth is the most expensive place I have been! But, you can buy a " Mal" pretty cheap at the local surf shops.

I think its part of the Fraser, flows into it at any rate. Tried white water kayaking once only around here, I should've got a lesson or two first!

31's for boots, I carry a little extra energy into that spot, it's a bit rougher near the shore than the middle of the bar so ends up smoother skipping over the shore section a bit faster and rolling out on the smaller stuff.

Haha, the winters here aren't much different from bloody Victoria winters either! Yeah I'll take you up on that, love to check the Storch out.

Byron is expensive but they won't sell you a shot of overpriced whiskey 8GCBC! Oh Australia, they like lots of rules.

Rules...

I known, they can track your car now! The QLD registration tag has a tracking microchip! I could login and see where I drove! Then had to pay extra road tax! I love the traffic cameras everywhere too!

I didn't know that, ridiculous. Down south you could loose your license for driving 5 kms over the limit on a 40 km stretch of hwy they had that many permanent cameras set up.
