Bad fuel found at KTRK (Truckee)

Just a note: I have not written the below. Just passing it along to fellow pilots...

Please read the following carefully if you have received fuel at KTRK in the past month:

Last week, a fatal accident occurred at Truckee-Tahoe Airport (KTRK). The airport shut down all fueling operations and had the fuel tested by an independent lab under the circumstances. The fueling operations were shuttered for nearly a week.

Yesterday, all 100LL was removed from the airport and trucked to Chevron in Richmond. The fuel samples came back not meeting ASTM standards for 100LL. In particular, the octane rating was below the required standard and near 87 octane.

At this point, we have been informed to ground our aircraft until all fuel has been removed from it since we purchased fuel early last week from TRK. We were also instructed to contact Chevron’s corporate liaison assigned to this matter.

If you purchased fuel from KTRK in the month of July, I would highly recommend you contact the airport by phone at 530-587-4119 to receive instructions on remediation.

The airport is attempting to contact all who might have purchased fuel there last month, however, they may not have ability to reach everyone. Accordingly, please pass this on to those who might have visited TRK last month.
