Barefoot Bandit Redux

Night before last sombody stopped by Montague, CA airport (1O5) and did a bit of damage. Broke into a C 150 on the ramp and tore up the wiring to try to hot wire it. That did not work so they did the same to a Camanche and that did not work so they got pissed and smashed a bunch of instruments.

Next they broke into a Cessna 402, got one engine started, taxied arround in circles and smashed into a C 205. It was not discovered tell the next morning then Siskiyou County Mounty was called but they would not come out tell an owner of one of the damaged airplanes called.

Re: Barefoot Bandit Redux

I just got some photos from a friend of the 402/205 tangle this afternoon. He bunks there while he is building the water treatment plant in Yreka.

Evidently the 205 driver who was hit doesn't have hull coverage......Something to think about. What a bummer! My buddy said the 402 belonged to Redding Aero.

Tim, you have to stop importing those gangbangers from your SoCal neighborhood to God's country! You know they probably followed you up there! :D

Unfortunately, as my friend said, it probably means the airport will get a security fence now. Another friendly airport may be gone soon.

Re: Barefoot Bandit Redux

Yet another good argument for better locks on airplanes--the $1.29 version just doesn't stop anyone. And of course, most twins use just a toggle switch for the mag switch rather than a keyed lock like many singles have. Not that it would stop someone bent on vandalism, but it might reduce the consequential damage to other aircraft.

That's kind of adding insult to injury! What, it's not a crime until the owner knows about it?

Tim sounds like Johnson Creek is safer. Never heard of anything even close to this happening at Johnson Creek.

If this doesn't make since to some of you it is a private jab. :D

One arrest made. Seams this 18 year old male was bragging to his GF that he was going to mess up some planes. She figured it was big talk. A few days later she read it in the paper and turned him in.

I do not get on here for not doing somthing when he was bragging cus who in their right mind would do somthing like this. For here stepping up after the fact I give her thanks. =D> Think I will send her some flowers.
