Door clutch is a bracket with a little gear that only spins one way and is inside the door frame in our 180. When you close the door there is an arm sticking out that rides over the gear and moves it slightly in one direction. When you move the handle inside to lock the door the arm moves aft and grabs that gear. Since it only spins in one direction it pulls the door tighter to the airframe.
Ours, after close to 8k hours was just about worn out. The teeth on the gear were horrible. What had me miffed about this purchase was I bought this one after scrutinizing the pics to assess the condition of that gear, as it is, imo, the most important aspect of buying said part. It even had an as removed tag that had the N-number, hours and date removed. The teeth on the gear looked good so I bought it. The one that I received was worn quite a bit more, had more time and as mentioned was 7 years older than what I thought I had paid for. The reaction from the fellow on the phone was not that helpful either. "It is what it is" sort of thing.
If you bought a nice looking, straight, used rudder based on the appearance in the pics and the one you got was beat up with would you be

or

????
We bought a used fuel valve from them that we knew would be overhauled. It didn't really matter I guess if it was the one in the pics but ironically it was.
I guess the moral of of the story is if you are buying a part on a visual basis, don't be surprised if you receive something else if they have more than one listed. As to the ebay comment, I knew it was from BAS as their name was on the listing. The same pic of the part is also on their website.
At the end of the day it works better than what I had, lesson learned on trusting what you see in pics, and a nice glass of red can have an amazing effect on changing your mood.
