I had the pleasure of flying with "Grassstrippilot" today. As some of you guys out west know; he's a great guy to fly with.

For most of the trip we had a great exchange of Backcountry flying experiences. Later, a challenging weather diversion meant we missed our flights home; but we are hoping to get back to some Cessna flying tomorrow!

Likewise I had a great trip with Aqua. Some how we had not flown together for many years so it was good to catch up. Our lunch entertainment included showing him my video from HSF last fall. I'm working on talking him into flying out from upstate New York this year in his 180. Or maybe we could commandeer a Bus and bring it to Deadcow [emoji1].

I think you'd be surprised. I was. With no parallel taxiway, sometimes aircraft have to hold at the initial approach fix to let others takeoff or to wait their turn to land. It can get pretty busy. American, Air France, us, and a bunch of other airlines fly in there. Plus the seemingly ever presence of the UN. They have started construction of a parallel taxi way. It is needed.

It's an A321 Airbus. That's ok, sometimes I feel that way too. There are a bunch of buttons we never push so once a year we have to brush the cobwebs away and remember all the finer details on it all.

Where are you at in Upstate NY Aqua? Burns and I are about 30 miles north of Lake George. It'd be nice to meet up with you.

Are you near Speculator? We go to a seaplane fly-in there every year, this year June 3,4,5.

Also, we have a seaplane fly-in here on Keuka that's easily accessible for wheel planes; an 1800' or so grass strip is close by. Sept 17th this year.

I built time back in the late '80s flying for Agape Air out of Sarasota, kind of a UPS for missionaries on Haiti. My uncle was the Chief Pilot there, so I would go down on spring breaks and fly with him. Then after the earthquake I went back down to Agape and did a trip in a King Air to Port of Prince. I was amazed at the amount of air traffic going into that single runway airport, all different aircraft from arriving from all over the world. At that time the US Airforce was handling ATC and it was going as smoothly as it could given the lack of taxi ways that you mentioned.

My uncle was there overnight onetime, came back to the airport in the morning and there had been a coup or something, the airport was closed with jeeps with machine guns on them guarding everything so he couldn't get out. The troops went to siesta around noon, he jumped in the Skyvan and flew out not talking to anyone. ahhhhh......Haiti.

Good for you guys! In 4 years at VX, I haven't flown with anyone else who does any backcountry flying, and only a handful that fly GA at all.

If the rumor mill has any credibility, maybe I'll get to fly to Haiti with one of you guys...

I've heard that rumor too.

Fshaw...During the Speculator Fly-In we park on the town beach, next to the Lake Pleasant Lodge. Some stay there, some at the Cedarhurst.

My airplane is a blue 180 with a checkered tail, hope to see you there.

Aeropod...As to that rumor; IMHO, it could be the rare merger that actually works. Hope everything works out well for all concerned.

Maybe you need to take Sprocket along as flight engineer.
