Re: Bearhawk Patrol STOL from the Ground

Very nice, I love the square wing with big flaps. He would stop bouncing if he kept his tail up a bit more when landing, but with the wind he did great. What HP in that plane?

I wish we had grass strips in Nevada. We do have golf courses though.

Most Patrols have O-360s (180 HP), but I think that one has an IO-360, so 200 HP.

Re: Bearhawk Patrol STOL from the Ground

You can have a 180hp io-360. The difference in horsepower isn't the injection, it's parallel vs angle valve cyls.

I have been thinking about doing that for the fun of it but it hasn't worked out yet. Maybe this year!

How about giving us some performance numbers? Are they close to spec?

Re: Bearhawk Patrol STOL from the Ground

In cruise I get 141mph true with the fixed pitch prop. Climb is 1200fpm and better depending on conditions. Touching down about 35mph indicated. Approach is 50-55mph indicated. T/O and Landing distance you can judge by the video. Thanks for watching.
