Best Grizzly Protection

Remember that post from last year I think about the best gun for grizzly protection. Everyone was wrong. THIS IS THE BEST

Compact, light, fits in a holster without the folding stock.

And you need to be within 15 feet to hit anything ;)

You keep thinking that Zane. That would work out to about 25-30 yards with bird shot and out to 50yds+ with buck shot or slugs. People have such a misunderstanding about shot gun performance.

Mr Attitude, I was talking about the fully auto stock-equipped pistol. I've shot enough skeet to know you can get some decent range and accuracy from a long barrel shotgun.

Mr. A,
How does the accuracy of these fully autos diminish after the first round?

bear killers

have you guys checked out the new S&W 460XVR, its a hand cannon that will put 5 shots into an inch at 100 yards if you are man enough to hang on to it.
unfortunatly the canadian gov dosent care if we get eatin by bears ,just about city gangs (like they care if there guns are legal) so no handguns for me.

Ifwe were allowed to carry them up here I would have one . most guys keep defenders or 30-30 winchesters in the plane but if you put it in the lake your ods of geting your gun to shore are nill.

Ya I dont disagree they need to do something about the gangs but tacking the legal guns away from law abiding citizens who happen to like to spend there time in the wilderness is not the answer. I have no desire to carry a loaded pistol down town but I would like to carry one when flying across the far north.
Gang members dont buy legal guns for ilegle activities. But up here it is far easier to get a illegal handgun than a legit one. Good for crooks bad for us!

I wouldn't worry about going down out in the sticks-- but a forced landing in south-central LA or crashing short on final into Compton is a different story......hopefully they'd at least find my picked-clean bones.

I was living in Sonoma County California during the Loma Prieta earthquake October 1989, when the 880 freeway collapsed and all the cars got squished. Friends of mine with Alameda County SO said that the local "citizens" of Oakland swarmed the rubble within minutes of the collapse, not to help, but to loot the wrecks. Some stooping so low as to strip jewlery off the injured victims still trapped in their cars and steal their wallets.

I'll take my chances with the four legged critters any day of the week over the two legged ones.

That's probably the gnarliest thing I have heard in a while. I use to live at Lincoln & Webster in Alameda just west of the 880 where you are talking about. 3 years I was there, I only got mugged once!

I now reside in beautiful Bend, OR with my Mossberg 590, XD45, and Savage 10FP for vermin of the two legged or four legged varieties!

You want Low, here's Low..... We lost my 25 year old son seven years ago today to a stupid teenager passing on a double line who hit him head on and killed him... Well at the cemetary there are brass vases on the grave sites for flowers.. Some low life has gone through the cemetary and stolen all the brass flower holders from the graves. I guess brass has a high resale value.....Sorry guys, I know this is straying from the subject but todays a rather rough day for us at our house....Anniversary of the worst day of our lives....

Iceman,

I can understand your pain. I never know what to say because it is so different for everyone, but I find always find a little comfort in knowing someone else can relate.

In two weeks my wife and I will have the first anniversary of the worst day of our life. I’ve lost a number of people due to natural causes and that is painful, but when it is unexpected, unnecessary, and violent it makes it so much worse. We are still adjusting our notions of life and death to fit this new reality.

I am the text I create.

Thanks JR, I've learned that many people feel uncomfortable at learning of the death of someones loved one but believe me I like talking about him and People like yourself who express sorrow and extend condolences are very much appreciated. He will never be forgotten and it gives me a chance to talk about him a little, and as I told CAVU in a PM I enjoy talking about him cause he was worth talking about.. My condolences to you and your wife. I hope the joy of the season helps to ease the pain some.... Time for a cold one... Thanks again,... Butch AKA Iceman

Thank you John, I was down there checking on it Monday. It's all welded up and they are waiting for some parts from Maule. He says re assembly will go quickly. Can't wait to start flying again. I think i have a lot of practicing to do before I venture up to Idaho. Gotta do a bunch of slow flight and spot landings not to mention avoiding a repeat of the entire incident. Merry Christmas to you and yours... BCP fly in is coming up.. See ya.... Butch (Iceman)
