Best Nevada or California dinner

The following is in response to a question asked by a user which is no longer in the database:

I don't know the name of the casino but the big one across from the Jackpot airport was pretty good. After you park on the ramp it's just a short walk to the casino.

Also, (I'll find out the name soon) there's some place close to the Elko Airport that's suppose to be good (yea, good useful info here  ). Anyway, I'll find some names and let you know (maybe someone else knows). Pat.

Hop across the mountains to Nevada County Air Park and catch a ride to the Willo - great little roadhouse just outside Nevada City on 49, killer steaks and ribs. Give me a shout if you're ever interested, I'd be happy to give you a ride over there.

Regarding Elko eateries mentioned in an earlier post, the Star Hotel is the most popular serving excellent beef, lamb and pork in a family style setting. It is a basque restaraunt of wich there are two others on the same street (Silver). All are good and less than a mile from the airport.

How far a walk is it to the Willo?

Wish you could walk there, but there's nothing within walking distance of the field. The Willo is on the other side of town, probably 5 miles - FBO might have a loaner car but I'm not sure. Nevada City has a bunch of other good restaurants too, but the Willo is the best bang for the buck and the "Bay Area" refugees don't seem to hang out there.

Izzy's Steaks and Chops at San Carlos airport. http://www.izzyssteaks.com/ Don't know if they'll serve armed furrinners, though. :P

I always eat the pork tenderloin when I go to the Star. I love that place. Make sure you have time because there is always a good long wait to get seated.

Oh yes their tenderloin is hard to beat. As far as the wait goes that is a good excuse for another pecan punch, and another....

dinner

Hey John

Don't know if you want to go this far, but down by Coalinga there is a place called the Harris Ranch that is awfully good. They used to grow their own meetsbeef in particular) and had a butcher shop on the property, so you could buy fresh meet, and take it with ya. Whenever I was in the area, I would always stop.

Have a good one Gary

If you want to go up, pull back on the controls. If you want to go down, pull back farther.

I like Barton's Club 93 for food, you wont be disappointed. Easy walk from the tie-downs. Don't know if they provide Mx O2 for the short-o-breath club.

Here's more info on Flying there.

Yeah, Cactus Petes is what I was thinking of. I'll have to Barton's Club next time. Where's that one at?

Hey John, have just the ticket for you. Your kind of people. Fly into Sierraville, CA. Then hoof it to the hot spring and get the Saturday Tofu Special. http://www.sierrahotsprings.org/meals.htm

Kind of an entry level Burning Man

Enjoy, Tim

Figured John would enjoy the water yoga \:D/

If going to Shelter Cove in the future, call the restraunt and ask about fog as part of flight planning.
