BIG CREEK IDAHO

Thanks in no small part to JMTGT, My daughter Kate and I left last Thursday for Big Creek. This get together was orchastrated by John who at the last minute was unable to go. We arrived a little late for my liking but didn't bend anything. For those of you who are interested, this lodge is a wonderful get away with ammenitites for those who want them and remote enough for those who don't. Tents are OK and water is right there on the field. The lodge is run by the caretakers, John and MaryAnn. You could not want for nicer people. MaryAnn is a great cook and spares nothing. Both are fun to be around. The accomodations are clean and comfortable. There is fishing in the various creeks, so I am told. The McKains can attest, I'm no pro!
The weather turned against us on Saturday and caused an early departure. We had wanted another day with our friends but had to make due with what we had. As it was, we made it McCall and decided to stay after our second attempt to leave. Sunday morning was better even though we spent several hours trying to get around the weather.
For what this PIREP is worth, it's a great place and we won't hesitate to return. The field is great. There were 3 RV's in there with us!
Next time John!

Doug,

I just looked at your trip reports from your big 2005 NW trip, great photos. So much green grass, I love it. I really like the looks of your M4 too.

We had a heck of a good time up there this year again. I'm tryin' to finagle a way to go back one more time before the end of September. Hell, for that matter, I'd like to figure out how move up there and still be able to afford to fly the plane. I really like the area around the Hells Canyon Wilderness.

Doug, if anything, It's like a picture, it reminds the person of the time but cannot desribe it to the others that were not there. It is a great place, wonderful people and some of the most challenging flying around. If you guys go, I might be talked into it.....
I would like to go back there once more before we move. There are some other places I want to put in there too. A good five days should do it.
The Flying M might be a good jump off point. There, I tabled the idea, now who's on it?
