gump,
when did you fly out of kotz? i flew the national guard helicopter up there in 1977 /78 with milt cross. milts dad was still alive at the time he was 81 and i would go to old man cross's house of an evening to listen to his avaition stories. he came to alaska in 1934??? and was one of the pioneer avaiators. i ask
mr cross when he learned to fly and he said " oh it was during the war, PAUSE, the first one you kown.''

i have flown helicoters & maules in ak for 37 years. i have an m6 and m4. most flying is on floats.

First up in 1979, but to Barrow. I'm sure we crossed paths somewhere along the line. Your name really rings a bell, but with this age thing, lots of names ring bells!!! Kotz came a little later, with last stint from 1999 to 2004.

You're absolutely right about the Noatak, Kelly, and Kobuk. River flying doesn't get any better anywhere!!!

as for the bushwheel going flat question. I used to worry about that but the last time I brought the cub home down the alkan rought I had exactly that issue. All I did was air down the other one to almost nothing and then air up the leaker before we took off each time. I landed with it almost completly flat quite a few times and it is a non issue on a cub, somthing that lands fast and is heavy like a 206 might be a different story. Im not recomending it Im just telling you my experience.
