From the local rag a few days ago: I-15 will be CLOSED several times, for a total of 15 hours, before and during the Idaho Falls performance. Wow, that takes some pull, they must know someone high up.
In todays paper:HOMEOWNERS DISPLACED BY AIRSHOW. A handful of local residents will have to (that is what it said, HAVE to) leave their homes to accomodate the Blue Angels practice sessions and airshows. They will be compensated an unspecified amount for the trouble. Now, if you, as a pilot and homeowner were told (OK, asked) to get out of your home so the Blue's could do their thing, what would you do? I'm afraid I would have already made other plans, such as a rooftop viewing area for myself and friends. A SWAT team would be needed to change my mind I'm afraid, I wonder if they would go that far? I wonder how they handle malcontents and trouble makers who refuse? Hopefully signing a release or just a firm "don't say we didn't warn you." Fat Albert doing low flybys?
The article goes on to say it is all of course safety related, and how can you argue with that? You can't. It does seem a bit heavy handed however. You can bet a lot of long haul truckers are going to be inconvienenced by the freeway shut down, and there is something to be said about the dangers of that itself.
