Bringing the 180 home

Did you fly somewhere cool, take photos, and feel like telling the tale to make us drool from the confines of our offices? Post them up!

I ~think~ it used to have the Horton STOL, when it got the Sportsman the fences were left on. I'll have to flip through the logs to figure it out exactly.

No doubt - the pilot reported about 105mph on 20gph in cruise on the amphibs! Yikes! Maybe the buyer has his own refinery.

The FBO folks gladly offered to fill us up for $1 more a gallon but just on principle I jumped in the plane and flew 25 miles west to Freemont

Good job. Maybe that'll make you feel a litte better about the highway robbery they pulled on us at that fuel stop in NM. Was it Sedona?

I think it was Santa Fe - i'd still like to go back there and choke the crap out of that guy. We should have known better, we weren't really their target market.

I'd go on http://www.Airnav.com and type in your comments about your experience there. Sometimes that might get somebody's attention.

Thanks for sharing Vick, truly nice...plane and photos.

I fly down to Richfield on Saturdays when I can. They do a nice little breakfast and its just enjoyable sometimes to surround yourself with some fine, GA-loving folks who love to shoot the bull. Its good for the soul.

Lee gives my two sons those little balsa wood gliders to put together and fly after breakfast... they love it and its the only thing I can promise them to get them up before the chickens on a weekend.

I'm glad you had a good experience there as well as a great x/c.

Lee is awesome! He's what convinced me to spend the night there rather than press on. Ended up sitting around the office with him talking for quite a while. Richfield seems like a great example of what GA used to be everywhere - friendly, enthusiastic people that love aviation. It's great that they're so active in Young Eagles, sounds like they have a very successful program. Lee said he's flown something like 100 himself. He was fired up for his new RV-6A that he was going to pick up this week.

Re: Bringing the 180 home

rob the fences are part of the robertson stol. the sportsman cuff is an exelent adition to the robertson witch on the later cessna wing is just fences and droopy alerons. I believe the r stol on the early cessna wing has a small cuff
