Broken water rudder spring
Have problems with your aircraft? Maybe just questions about how best to tune or adjust something? Regs or maintenance? Need to know the best way to do something?

A seemingly simple issue isn’t so simple. It appears we broke a water rudder attach spring. On a 182 installation the spring attaches the rudder cable to the rudder pedal rather than the air rudder.
“Go buy a new one”.
But, checking the install drawings, the spring is Aerocet 3511025. Google that.
I will be talking to Kenmore this morning to see if they have one but does anybody have other ideas?
Have one made as an owner produced part?

I found some Edo parts I needed at Seaplanes North in Anchorage last year.

A&P can make determination of suitability of replacement parts. Lowes might have a spring, who knows. It's probably got an MS part number somewhere, they just made it part of their kit. Doubt they're making springs in house for that exact purpose.

Thanks for the help guys.
It turns out it is not broken, just popped off. Now to understand why it popped off. Too little tension?
Me be tighten the turnbuckle?

What did Aerocet have to say? That would be my first call if it was an Aerocet float install, or part.

Aerocet never responded.
I did find it interesting that the SeaPlanesWest installation drawing called out an Aerocet part number for an edo float install on a Cessna.
I will still follow up with Kenmore to try to prevent the spring from popping off.in the future.
