Murray also operated DC 8's. I have now learned I knew two of the three pilots on board in addition to the flight mechanic. I too am pissed that the media dis'd this accident by showing over and over again the horrible video. NBC spent about 30 seconds reporting the accident and 20 minutes talking about a gay basketball player. The aircraft had flown with that payload from Camp Bastion and was tech stopping at Bagram. One of the pilots killed was a third generation freight dog who's grandfather trained me for a DC8 type rating in 1990.

Man, sorry to hear that these were some guys you knew. Always tragic to see something like this, whether it involved passengers or not!

Every point I read here made me think "no shit!" Pilots & loadmasters need to be told this stuff?
More competence & common sense insuring legislation! :)
