By the Seat... (worth watching)

My best friend gave me a tape copy of that years ago...he knew a lot of the people in it. Somehow, someone "borrowed" it and needed it more than me. Definitely worth watching!

God put me here to accomplish a certain amount of things...right now I'm so far behind, I'll never die!!
Thank you for the link. I have read about half those stories, and to see the people who were there interviewed is fantastic. I remember living in the north when they were looking for Hartwell. We were glued to our AM radios listening to CBC North for news of the search. Punch Dickens, and the Courier that went through the ice. They were only black and whit photos and some text for me until this. Awesome.

That is a really good video, Growing up in Canada I remember a great Canadian singer/songwriter named Stompin' Tom Connors had a song named "the Martin Hartwell story" this was the first time I actually ever heard the full story and could put a face to the name from the song I knew so well. If you are interested here is the song

I just watched the documentary a few weeks back, and really enjoyed it. Thanks Steelroamer for the Stompin Tom... as a good Canadian Boy, I am ashamed that I had not heard this before!

It is better to be late in this world, than early in the next.
I'm 21 minutes in and loving it. I had to take a break last night because of the storms. Looking forward to finishing up tonight!

I finally got around to watching this one. I spat out my coffee when he talked about chucking the baby

It's awesome, thanks for posting!

I was a radio operator in Coppermine during the Hartwell search, so I had a front-row seat while monitoring the HF radio.
Hartwell flew for Great Bear Lake Lodge for a few years after the crash and also for a couple of small companies on the McKenzie River. That interview is one of the very few (only?) times that he talked about his experience.
