I just picked up some Halon extinguishers. a 1.25 lb that is about 11" tall, and a 2.5 lb that is about 16" tall. I didn't know which size would work out better for the plane, so I got them both, and will keep the non-plane one in my tie-down storage.
Wondering where people have seen them mounted inside the cockpit, particularly in a C170 or equivalent. I have slightly later -model seats from a C172. I would like to try under the pilot seat, but now I have one of those Cessna secondary seat locks to get in the way- not sure if there's still room. Under the copilot seat might be next-best. Looking for any good recommendations. Manual flap handle and fuel selector to allow for, too.
By the way, if you're around Anchorage I found these at Yukon Fire, on Silverado Way. Might have them at the FBOs too, I just never checked. Not cheap. About $150 for the 1.25 lb and $175 for the 2.5 lb. They can also certify them for you if you are required under 135, and they can service them at the recommended 6-year intervals.
Thanks.
