C-172 flying W/O doors?

Hey i saw this nice looking Cessna 172 advertised on Barnstormers. It is pictured with the doors off.

Does anyone know how this is done legally? Is it specified in the certification certificate or something. It seems to me I have heard chatter of this being done with C-140's/150's too?

Whats the flying characteristics of doors off flying? I would think that besides being windy and noisy like a cub, that crosswind could play havoc inside?

My guess is that this is a jump plane. I have seen the same thing at airports hauling parachutists up. I assume there is an STC or a notation in the pilot's manual permitting it.

Official permission for flying with ONE door removed linked here. Look in appendix 2 for a list of aircraft.

While that link is provided from a parachuting organization (for convenience, the FAA link I found was broken), and much of the advisory circular deals with parachute operations, the section involving aircraft limitations and approval is not solely concerned with just parachuting.

I'd love a ride in a J3 Cub with no doors. A Cessna? Not so much [-(
