It looks like it was a strait tail machine. There are pretty good pictures here: http://www.komonews.com/news/local/Smal ... l?mobile=y

'56 182 if I'm reading the N number on the wing right.

Man, it's bumming me out reading about all of these fatal crashes. :?

I just did the same thing and found the aircraft registered to a physician in Washington. It is becoming a very sad summer.

i feel that had the trees not been there, the pilot would be alive :(

Re: C-182 Down, Snoqualmie Falls, WA

non-pilot witness statements from the video.

""You couldn't see in front of you at all"

"Right after takeoff the plane dropped to 10 feet off the ground".

I'm not saying its the cause of the accident, but I'm not sure I would have taken off from that private airport in those conditions regardless of the equipment. Was the pilot ifr rated?

Yeh sure, and if the fence had not been there I would not have totaled my plane. I think that most of the time it is bad decision not trees or fences. I was shooting a rock chuck once and using my Polaris for a rest. The cross hairs were right where they belonged but the muzzle was lined up with the hand throttle.

Here is a map showing the golf course and the Fall City airport: https://www.google.com/maps/@47.5587338 ... a=!3m1!1e3

You will see the Fall City airport is pretty much adjacent to the Snoqualmie Falls Golf Course. The plane ended up near the 9th hole which is near the bend in the river on the South end of the course.

Looking at the airnav.com info on the airport the East runway has no obstructions with a right traffic, and I am guessing that is the direction most take off, winds permitting.

If he was going to Harvey (S43) which is downstream to the Northwest and took off on the East runway, a normal right downwind departure would bring him pretty much over the crash site.

The valley can get fog quite often that gets "stuck" against the Cascade foothills which start right at Fall City.

Certainly more to this than immediately apparent.
