Been seeing this one for a couple of months, finally got a pic. Looks cool with the 3 - blade.

That does look cool, I wonder what prop it is? Seems like the consensus though was that without more ponies, the extra blade isn't really worth it?

Looked like O-360 from peering into the cowling, definitely a big - bore 4 banger. Prop is McCauley. Has been sitting next to my tie-down in Juneau for a while. I'd never seen one with that prop in pictures or otherwise, figured someone here had, though.

I'm pretty sure that one has the O-360 in it, look at the tear drop on the cowling. I remember seeing that one for sale a while back, it was somewhere in eastern Oregon i believe.

Yup, my 170B with the Avcon conversion had those bumps on the cowling.

I may be mistaken, but that looks like a 170 that was featured in a magazine article sometime in the 90's. I forgot what magazine it was. I want to say Plane & Pilot, but it's been awhile. It did talk a little bit about the 3 blade prop.

Interesting cowling. Not only does it have the Lycoming cowling "bumps", but that is definitely not a standard B model upper or lower cowl nor nosebowl. Looks more like the cowl from a straight 1948 straight 170 model but the rear seat windows and tailfeathers makes it an A or B model.

The flaps look like B model flaps, the upper and lower cowl look like a 1948-1952 type cowling before they switched to the pressure cowl in 53. You can see dihedral in the wings so that rules out the A. I say it's a 1952 B model.

Oct 98 Private Pilot (I saved it).
1952 B model -- stock top cowl with aftermarket (fiberglas) nosebowl.
O-320 Lycoming with 74" 3-blade Mac C3D36C415-C prop-- prop installed 1990 under field approval. Has a nice custom center-stack panel, although I prefer the original piano-key switches.

Just an O-320?
