C180 Extended Extended Baggage STC?
Have you modified your aircraft? STC? STOL Kit? Major rebuild from just a data plate?
So I've heard of these but had never seen a picture till now. The placard above the opening makes me think this was an STC and not a field approval but I'm just guessing. I think I remember part of the install was replacing the control cables and installing pulleys to get the cables under the floor. Anyone know anything about this?

What happened to Ward? We had a C180 he rebuilt, maybe twice. It was sweet.

Phil- my bad- I read too fast and didn't register the "Extended-Extended" detail. My baggage is just "Extended". I don't know whether Ward ever had a FA for a double-extended baggage, although he did use pulleys to build a truly flat-floor extended baggage in my 170, via FA. He did include a placard that looks quite a lot like the one in your photo. Sorry about the misunderstanding.

Looks like a recipe for aft CG loading. The 185 is a good load hauler, but big loads are best done with one rear seat removed to keep the heavy stuff forward anyway.
Winter was the only time I really wished for a bit more space, even with the stock extended baggage, and even then, only when I needed four seats.

I now a bit about this. PM me.
Good for hauling long lumber and as previously discussed...light bulky stuff.
Not so good if your heavy load can slide aft.

I have some paperwork on a previous field approval of a Super Extended baggage also. Was told I could pass it along if someone else wanted to use it for their own field approval. PM me.
I am putting in the Airglas carbon fiber extended baggage next week, and feel bad that I have to leave the back of it out to have the Super Extended baggage...

He had a multiple field approval.
Ward is still a mechanic extraordinaire and has a large hangar in Girdwood.

Glad he’s still around.
The 180 we had that he worked over has the flat floor but I don’t believe it was that long. He had a sealed battery lying on its side in a box under the right front seat. It was the best flying 180 out of the 3 we had.
