My buddy lives on a historic ranch in Wolf, WY outside of Sheridan. He caught a ride down with another friend to see some people down my way in CO (he came from here originally). I was planning to fly up and see him for his birthday a few weeks ago, but it worked out this way, so I flew him home and stayed up there for the weekend. This is the second time I've made this trip.
Ended up with a tailwind the majority of the flight up and back, so that was lucky/strange

Wind was better this time which is surprising being Spring. It was gusting 28 at Douglas today where I refueled on the way back, mostly down the runway so landing wasn't too big of a deal but taxing and getting fuel is always stressful in those conditions. I was having visions of my bird flying away without me while trying to quickly squeeze out some pee and pay for fuel.
When I left I would bet my take off roll was 100ft even at ~1100 pounds. Pattern altitude half way down the runway is always neat

And also helpful as my zoomie header setup is so loud I pretty much have to pull the power back to make audible transmissions on the radio
I was thankful to have the zipper, as we were really heavy going up to Sheridan (of course, I'm sure we were not a single ounce over gross weight

). It was interesting to check fuel burns on some longer flights than I usually do, and a lot heavier too. Going up heavy, I averaged 4.25 gph at 110mph indicated. Coming home a little lighter I was working in the 3.75-3.85gph area again at 110mph indicated. I'm pitched pretty finely, so that is ~5500rpms / 18-19" manifold pressure depending on weight etc. And leaned out a fair bit on the hacman (air fuel ratios were pretty lean, but cruising at 8500-10,000 ft my egts ranged from 1450 at the very hottest I saw, and sometimes sustained as low as 1330-1350 at high altitude (talking leanest cylinders on all those numbers)).
I'm including some pictures of the ranch he lives/works on. It's a beautiful place nestled right up against the Bighorn mountains. They have guest cabins, full kitchen + food provided during the season they are open, horseback riding etc. It's called Eatons Ranch and it's got a ton of neat History that he knows a lot of. I heard some good stories over the weekend. They are closed right now, but things get pretty lively/fun/wild around there in the summer!
These trips are never long enough, I was only there 2 nights and had to go back to the real world where I have cell service, and a job and all that kind of stuff

Great excuse to get out the s6s and stretch its legs though as I haven't ventured far from the bird cage in some time

Pictures aren't great, as I forgot SLR...
Leaving middle of nowhere Colorado

Serious face engaged

Some lake somewhere in WY, or CO, or where ever I was flying

There is that tailwind (~25mph ish)

Bighorn Aviation Ramp in Sheridan

Some of the cabins on the ranch

Cool place across the river from the cabins (river just out of site on the right) Where they do weddings, out door lunches, parties etc.
